Pokemon SoulSilver Version

You become a Pokemon Trainer, traveling from town to town across the Johto region on an adventure to catch, train and battle Pokemon
You can take your favorite Pokemon with you wherever you go using the new Pokewalker accessory; wirelessly transfer a Pokemon to the Pokewalker and walk your Pokemon through virtual routes as you walk around in real life. By walking, you earn Watts that can be used to encounter and catch wild Pokemon or search for hidden items; the Pokemon in the Pokewalker will gain experience points as you walk, and can even go up one level when Pokemon is transferred back into the game.
For the first time, any Pokemon can follow you on your journey outside of the PokeBall; your favorite Pokemon can always be at your side.
With a wireless broadband connection, you can interact with your friends who have either the Pokemon HeartGold or SoulSilver Version game to trade or battle Pokemon via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service; you can also battle and trade with others via a local wireless connection.
An internal clock keeps track of the time of day and the day of the week; some special events will only happen on certain days or at certain times of day.

The Pokéwalker Included:
The Pokéwalker is a special pedometer that you carry with you that lets you take Pokémon fun wherever you go! You can transfer a Pokémon onto the Pokéwalker accessory using an infrared connection between the Pokéwalker and your Game Card. Then as you Stroll around with your Pokémon, it’ll earn Experience Points to gain a level. And you can even find items and special Pokémon while you’re on the go! The Pokéwalker is small enough that you can keep it in your pocket and take wherever you go. It also has a clip to hook it on your belt, and a hole for attaching a strap. It’s never been easier to take Pokémon with you!

Pokéwalker The Pokéwalker counts the number of steps you take as you walk around. The more steps you take, the more Watts you earn, which you can spend to find items and Pokémon!

When you transfer a Pokémon from your game into your Pokéwalker, you can select which Route you’d like to take your Pokémon along. Depending on which Route you take (such as in a grassland or by the sea), you’ll encounter different wild Pokémon and find remarkable items. When you first begin your journeys with the Pokéwalker, the list of Routes you can select from is short. But, the more you take a Stroll with your Pokémon, the more Routes will appear and the more Pokémon and items you’ll be able to get!

Catch Wild Pokémon!
After you’ve collected some Watts by going on a Stroll with your Pokémon, spend some of them to use the Poké Radar to catch wild Pokémon! If you see tall grass rustling after you use the Poké Radar, you know you’ve found a Pokémon. You have three options in the battle. You can attack, evade, or catch the wild Pokémon. By attacking, you can wear down the wild Pokémon to make it easier to catch. If you choose to evade when the wild Pokémon attacks, you’ll perform a counterattack! And when you think the timing is right, throw a Poké Ball to catch the Wild Pokémon. You can keep up to three caught Pokémon in your Pokéwalker at a time. If you catch a fourth Pokémon, you must choose one of them to set free.

Find Items!
Use the Pokéwalker’s Dowsing Machine to help find items. Like the Poké Radar, you use the Watts you earned while walking to use the Dowsing Machine. Some of the items you can find are quite uncommon! When you use the Dowsing Machine, you’ll see six patches of tall grass, and one of them has a hidden item in it. You have only two chances to discover the item! Some of the items you can get are really hard to find and very valuable, so keep hunting!

Time to Transfer!
Once you’ve found Pokémon and items using your Pokéwalker, you can send them back to your Pokémon game. You can only keep up to three Pokémon and three items in your Pokéwalker at a time, so be sure to send them to your game when your inventory fills up! Remember, if you catch a fourth Pokémon in your Pokéwalker, you’ll have to swap out one of the three Pokémon you’ve already caught.

The Pokéwalker Journal
After your Pokémon has spent some time in your Pokéwalker, you can get a recap in the Pokéwalker Journal. The journal tells of all the places the Pokémon has been and the things it has found while traveling inside your Pokéwalker! For example, if you catch a particular Pokémon while out on a Stroll, your Pokéwalker Journal will make note of it. It will also keep track of how your Pokémon has behaved while inside your Pokéwalker!

Pokéwalkers Communicate with Each Other!
The Pokéwalkers don’t communicate only with Game Cards—they can also communicate with each other! When you connect Pokéwalkers with a friend, you’ll both receive an item as a gift! You can connect two Pokéwalkers via infrared signal by pointing them at each other. When you do so, both players will receive an item! You can receive up to ten items by connecting to your friends, but you can get only one gift per person, per day.

My son is pretty much addicted to Pokemon anything at the moment. I purchased these cards for his birthday and he loves them. There was actually a great variety (considering the site mentioned there may be dupes) – especially for the low price. I don’t quite “get” the point of the card game myself, but my son enjoys playing with his friends. As far as “educational value” – I don’t consider this an educational game, so hard to place a rank on that. If you play the game the way it’s supposed to be played, though, it actually requires quite a bit of reading and basic math (adding scores, etc.) Can get pretty strategic, too. Overall very happy with the procudt and transaction.

I assume that most people who buy these know that normally if you buy a pack of 5 of them wrapped in cellophane from Target or wherever that you are paying about a buck a card – ridiculous if you ask me – but my 6 year old loves them – and they are great rewards for him completing chores or homework. What you are ordering here are 100 new cards – not wrapped in cellophane – but they came in a really nice plastic carrying case – which I hadn’t anticipated – and my son can’t wait until he earns all 100 cards so he can have the case too. There are duplicates which I would expect – but for the price – about 10 cents a card – oh well – also don’t expect too many high value cards – but there are a few and once again for the price I say oh well.

The overal satisfaction is extremly gratifying. This item is so unaffordable on the retail market. I would buy this item and many more from this amazon store. The seller makes items more affordable and offers more cards for a better price than buying retail in individual packs.

I think you should get one of these things. There were lots of cards that helped me make powerful decks. It also included some cards that are so old you can’t find them in stores anymore. It even included a rare promo Mew!

I bought three sets of these cards, thinking that I would be getting new cards that are just not in the original packaging. When they arrived, it was obvious that the cards are used and have been handled. Edges are worn or chipped, some are warped or bent. The description says nothing about these being used cards. I think this is deceptive advertising. Basically what you get are all the crappy cards that somebody else played with and then decided they didn’t want.

I’m going to start right out with it. BUY THIS GAME! This game is amazing on many fronts which is why it deserves a buy if you have a DS (maybe even buy a DS to play this game).

Gameplay: 10/10

The gameplay is as fresh as ever. The formula that GameFreak put down so many years ago still works. If you have already played any of the previous Pokemon games, there are basically no changes, other than the fact of the addition of a few minigames and a pokemon can walk behind you. For newcomers, here’s how the Pokemon formula works: You start an adventure with a starter pokemon, and then train to become the best pokemon trainer in the world. You do this by defeating other trainers who roam the land while also catching some extra pokemon of your own. The formula is straight up addictive and the plot is also well done.

Graphics: 8/10

It’s pokemon on the DS. The game uses the same graphics engine as Diamond, Pearl and Platinum and yes, the graphics aren’t top notch. I have definitely seen better on the DS (Mario Kart being a great example), but once again, the entire point of Pokemon is the gameplay and the replay value, not the graphics. As a plus however, many trainers have new animations and some gyms just look really, REALLY good. The atmosphere outside of special events could’ve used some work though.

Sound: 7/10

I will admit it, I am getting a bit disappointed with GameFreak recycling their 8-bit recorded cries for the Pokemon on every single game. These cries are the same we had 10 years ago. On the other hand, the overall soundtrack is really good, and I have also heard there is a way to get the original soundtrack back in the game by achieving a certain item. In general, the sound is ok, but I think GameFreak needs to do a little overhaul with the Pokemon cries.

Replay Value: 15/10

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? 16 BADGES! 3 TOTAL STARTERS YOU CAN GET! Straight up epic. I, in my own right, already thought that all the other games that only had 8 badges and one region were long enough, but WOW. This game is amazing (I already had the Japanese version, and have played to the second Elite Four, and it’s taken me a good 40 hours already) in this criteria for sure.

Final Verdict:

If you have a DS, BUY THIS GAME. If you don’t, BUY A DS, and then BUY THIS GAME. Amazing characters, amazing battles, amazing starter pokemon (who doesn’t love them a nice Typhlosion?), and great replay value. You won’t be disappointed.

Okay, so I’ve been playing Pokemon games since the original Red and Blue here in the US. The Gold/Silver/Crystal trio were, and still are, my favorite of the series (Crystal obviously being the best, since it was for the Game Boy Color and it had a load more stuff in it). These remakes are very much a welcome thing, as they’ve used the engine from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, and the experience has been brought up to date. All sorts of new things to do, having any Pokemon of your choice follow you around is pretty neat, though not a selling point, loads of extras (you can catch most Pokemon in the series in these two remakes, as a way to try to phase out the GBA games/slot on the DS Lite and move on to the DSi and DSi XL), and the fact that this game has much more length than the average Pokemon game (you go to the Johto region for the 8 badges there, then you head to Kanto for the 8 badges there, 16 total), this is a very nice package deal. The Pokewalker, while, again, not a selling point, is a really neat addition as well. Catching Pokemon on the run, walking and gaining EXP for the Pokemon of your choice is a really cool addition. I go on almost daily walks with my dog, so the Pokewalker is a really cool addition for me personally, cause now I can take my Pokemon with me and level up while I walk. All of the additions (Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, three sets of starter pokemon obtainable in one game, Pokeathalon, Global Trade, etc.) make for a lengthy quest, and the ammount of time you can spend playing these games if you truly know the ins and outs of leveling, EV training, natures and whatnot, you can truly have a game that you can and will play for years. If you’re not a fan of Pokemon, or have never picked up one of the games, this is a perfect game to get you going. Lots of fun, amazing ammount of time to spend doing all the things there are to do. And, if you have what it takes to get all of the 493 (staggering, isn’t it? I remember how stoked I was when I finally got all 151 on the original Red) Pokemon, you truly… have more patience than me. None the less, it’s a lot of fun, being able to trade and battle just add more, and the new Pokewalker all add up to a very great deal for your money. It’s been ten years since Gold and Silver hit the shelves, and this is an amazing reawakening for those games.

Being an old Fan of Pokemon, I was so excited to see the updated version of the Silver game. I have the old GBA games, so I had to try it out. I was not disappointed, and the added bonus of the pokewalker makes it more worth while. Being a student, it’s hard to find time to just sit back, relax, and do some gaming. But, with the walker, while in school or slaving away doing work at home or whatever, you’re furthering your game and training your team just by walking. It’s so handy! Growing up with pokemon, this is perfect for the nostalgia factor. The gameplay is good, and visuals superb for the franchise.

I myself have already logged 50 hours, and will log much more soon. I highly recommend this for a rpg, and or pokemon fan. The game is a solid game, and provides hours of gameplay. For the decent price It’s a solid buy.

My grandson recently celebrated his 11th b’day. He had been asking for this game for “weeks on end” – so I purchased it for him. He was thrilled when he opened his gift – “just what I wanted” !! He did say it was “kind of hard, but I’ll keep at it” – and I know he will !!
