Gammon IS Ham. When Gammon is cooked it turns into Ham.

The gammon joints from the supermarket are the same as ham. Sainsbury do small ones in their basic range that are really good value. Soak the gammon for an hour or two and then boil in new water. It is worth getting a meat slicer for joints like this as it slices thinner and cleaner that most people can – which is better for sandwiches.

If you want quality of meat you go to a butcher, not a supermarket.
Some supermarkets do have a butcher on the premises, ask to speak to him.
